Started as a hobby-turned-business in the basement in the family home, Emmons Tropical Fish has been doing business in its present location since 1971. Bob Emmons turned a penchant for breeding tropical fish into a weekend retail venture. From those early days in the basement, Bob, his wife Kay, and son, Steve, grew the business into what it is today.

Emmons Tropical Fish is now a full-line pet store offering not only tropical fish, but also, goldfish, marine fish and invertebrates, live plants, reptiles, birds, small animals, pond fish and plants, and all the supplies and equipment needed to sustain these livestock. In addition, Steve, the owner, and the staff-people at Emmons are knowledgeable and ready to help and answer questions. These, and the awesome selection at Emmons, make it a great independent pet shop.

In recent years fish keeping has become one of the most practiced hobbies in the world, second only to photography. In these days of big box stores and impersonal service, we would like to provide a smaller and more local alternative while still offering good merchandise at fair prices.

While Bob is no longer with us, his store is still run by these same principles he believed to be important. We hope we can be your pet store of choice.
